It’s the Sunday right after Mastering Runeterra’s July Open, which means it’s time to review the top lineups from the event! I gathered all lineups in the top 8 to talk about them and give some insight into the card choices so without further ado, let’s look into them!
Top 8 Lineups
Broken Ball

Broken Ball brought an interesting lineup which has a few key good matchups across the board, according to stats. Looks like he was out to beat Fizz
/Samira
, Jinx
/Kennen
and the Illaoi
/Swain
matchups, while having a flatlined table against most of the field. The absence of cards like Disintegrate
in Illaoi Swain and Desert Naturalist
on Jhin Norra indicates that he was probably ready to ban Nasus
Vaults of Helia
decks regardless of build or lineup matchups. Unfortunately for him, his top 8 opponent, GrandpaRoji had none of that in his lineup, which probably made the ban phase and matchup table a bit awkward in the end.

Fellow MaRu writer Sorry brought the current meta’s most solid “three good decks” lineup, falling for Majiinbae in the mirror lineup matchup in the top 8. There are a few differences in the way both lineups were built that in my opinion gave Majin the advantage. Sorry’s slightly less greedy builds put him in a disadvantage in the mirror matchups when comparing decks to eachother, and this small edge could have been what gave Majin the ticket to the top 4.
Infinipatrons

Falling for our grand champion, Infinipatrons’ creativity shined in this event. With his very own Jax
Varus
, and Nidalee
Renekton
he was able to get over the swiss rounds but fell short for the slightly superior midrange lineup. Still, Jax Varus looks like a decent deck to surprise opponents that aren’t ready for a well timed Sharesies
.
Lando

28 cards
12 cards

Featuring Shen
Jarvan IV
over Aatrox
Vayne
in the standard lineup, Lando lost to ABG Kfelt who was out there to hunt for Fizz
Samira
. Interesting take on the Shen
deck to pack a 2-of of Sacred Protector
.
Top 4 Lineups
Majiinbae

Majiin will always perform on the “three good decks” lineup and this weekend was no different. With slightly greedier versions of each deck, most notably having no Quinn
in the Vayne
deck and dropping Jagged Butcher
s for Heavy Metal
and Elixir of Wrath
on Samira
Fizz
. Majiin ended up losing 0-2 to Roji who was on a lineup that looks to bully Jinx
and he did just that: 2-0 Jinx
.
Kfelt
25 cards
15 cards

16 cards
24 cards

28 cards
12 cards

Kfelt’s amazing run featured the only Jax
Teemo
in the top 8. With a lineup that was looking to do well against Samira
Fizz
, Kfelt fell short by losing twice with his own Samira
Fizz
against the more controlling side of Tank’s lineup.
Runner-up Lineup
GrandpaRoji

12 cards

Roji showed up with a lineup that really wanted to face Jinx
Kennen
and he did face that all day up until the finals, but Tank didn’t end up bringing the deck. We didn’t get to see Samira
Varus
in action during the grand finals, but the deck did perform throughout the day, eating bans left and right while not dropping a single game.

Tank’s lineup features a super interesting Overwhelm deck that would certainly make RickoRex proud. After a very tough swiss portion where he faced 2 people who ended up top 8ing, Tank took home the prize and glory with a lineup that’s looking to beat up on other midrange decks by either controlling them or just going slightly bigger.
