Our first Eternal Open is in the books and what an amazing tournament it was! The Eternal Meta is starting to take shape and there are some big take aways from it. First is the rise of Timelines decks. Being able to play three versions of the powerful deck led our winner hobbitsizz all the way to the top with many more making the top 8. You can see all of the Decklists and the stats for most decks play on this sheet.
Another big stat is that Thresh Nasus was the most played deck with a whopping 32.5% of the field bringing the deck and not a single copy made it into the top cut. This is almost for sure because of it's poor match up against timelines decks. While Ryze was only brought by four players and two of them managed to make the top cut, a massive 50% conversion into the elimination rounds.
We are already seeing players howling about timelines and wondering why it was reverted. However when a third of the field is literally offering up easy wins to the deck can you be surprised it did so well? As Boulevard said in his tournament tactician last week everyone thinks they are right about what decks are good and this weekend will prove who is right. Now that we know timelines is the real deal and a that you can't bring decks that are bad into it, the format will start to adapt. I don't think timelines is the end all be all of eternal decks and I think we will see line ups start to rise up that can farm these one mana dice rolling lovers. So fret not LoR Community the end is not nigh, it's time to cook!
