$1000 MaRu Open on August 26
With the $2k prize pool experiment not quite landing how we had hoped, we're going back to the drawing board on the minimum prize pool for the Opens – we are exploring other options to help spice up the pot going forwards, but for the time being we're returning to the guaranteed minimum prize pool of $1000 USD, with 18 U$ being added on top of this for every entrant beyond 55.
You can sign up for next week's eternal open right now, or read further details on the rules, formats, and whatnot via the link below:

Daily tournaments are back next week
After the continued positive feedback from the Runeterra community, we'll resume our Daily tournaments – these fire every evening at 5:30 p.m. PST, are single elimination, and have a pot of $20 for first place, alongside a point race that takes place over the week and gives the first place a free entry to the MaRu Open of their choice!
All you have to do to participate is subscribe to any premium tier on the website, and join our discord to get in on the action.
This batch of tourneys will take place Monday to Friday for two weeks starting August 21st-25th, then again August 28th - Sept 1st.
Fresh New LoR Metas, Coming Up!
It's a brand new world out there…
… or, well, actually two: while the majority of pilots are switching over to Eternal, the Standard ladder is still active.
If you want to check what's been working thus far, here's what Herko found in the data for each of ladder:

If you want to hit the Eternal ground running, Yangzera has just finished baking his latest guide about what's looking like one of the hottest trends: Invoke Allegiance, featuring Zoe and Diana.
Learning to Learn LoR
Our Pros took advantage of the pre-patch lull to add two more strategy guides to the MaRu toolbox.
Sorry published his guide about how to avoid six common mistakes in Legends of Runeterra, namely:
- 1- Rejecting the Meta
- 2- Giving up Easily
- 3- Not Asking for Help
- 4- Wasting Shards
- 5- Ignoring Deck Balance
- 6- Focusing on Luck
And Yangzera wrote about one of LoR's most iconic mechanics in his The Art of Passing article:
- Understanding the Basics
- Actions as a Resource
- Nuance in Everything
- Open Passing
- What to do Against Open Pass Decks?
Path of Champion Changes
Legend of Runeterra's Patch 4.8 just brought the most change that The Path of Champions might see in a while. Galio’s campaign got buffs across nearly all its encounters, our recent Path of Champions Tier List just got a shakeup with the nerfs to Gatebreaker and Galeforce, and it looks like some of the weaker options got enough buffs to begin trying to take their place in the newly-made power vacuum, while the old kings and queens try to hold their places on the throne.
YouuXun detailed in an extensive, in-depth article each of the non-relic changes, and how they will impact the Path of Champions Champs, Aventures, and Encounters!
