The second day of the Legends of Runeterra World Championship just finished and we have only a handful of competitors left.
Unfortunately, MajiinBae, who placed first in the Swiss Stage on Day 1, was not able to survive to the final day. 🙁
Nonetheless, congrats to Chenia and Seku for reaching the Winner’s Finals!
Today, we had some of the most exciting games of the year and saw unconventional decks upset the meta. Let’s take a look at these LoR Worlds 2023 off-meta decks and how likely they are to take it all!
LoR Worlds 2023 Winner’s Finals Lineups
Seku’s Worlds 2023 Lineup
Shyvana Elder Dragon
27 cards
13 cards
Gnar Neeko
24 cards
16 cards
The Poro King Yuumi
30 cards
10 cards
As he revealed in an interview today, Seku’s lineup is achieving several things – it beats the new-age powerhouse Norra Elder Dragon, as well as the old meta giant Karma/Seraphine Sett. It can also play into Mordekaiser Morgana, although it is slightly unfavoured on stats.
For this impressive feat, the lineup has to ban Jax Ornn – it accelerates the game too quickly with big units that are taller than the ones of Neeko Gnar or Poro King Yuumi.
The biggest upside of Seku’s lineup, and what gives him the edge against Chenia, is that he didn’t bring Karma Sett himself.
Chenia’s Worlds 2023 Lineup
Fizz Yuumi
21 cards
19 cards
The Poro King Targon
28 cards
12 cards
Seraphine Sett
26 cards
14 cards
Chenia’s Legends of Runeterra Worlds 2023 lineup is doing something very similar to Seku’s. It beats Mordekaiser Morgana, Elder Dragon Norra, and Karma Sett while banning Jax Ornn.
This lineup is great in the Worlds field, as Norra Elder Dragon and Morgana Mordekaiser were the most popular decks. Karma/Seraphine Sett and Jax Ornn were meta menaces in the LCQ and still on people’s minds to bring and target.
Unfortunately, Chenia’s lineup has one weakness – it runs Seraphine Sett itself. This means that Chenia is also weak against lineups that target Karma/Seraphine Sett, like what Seku is doing.
On the other hand, Seku decided not to bring Sett Piltover & Zaun deck, thus evading the strategy of Chenia.
The Best-Performing Worlds 2023 Deck
There are several metrics to measure the success of a deck. For the sake of this article, we will define it as the deck that showed up most in the Day 3 lineups.
And the trophy goes to… Poro King Yuumi!
As we already saw, the king made its way into both Winner’s Finalists lineups. What's more, it is also wielded by Korean legend J01 who is still in the run down in the loser’s bracket.
Another well-performing deck in the Legends of Runeterra World Championship 2023 is Fizz Yuumi. In the Swiss stage, it achieved a 66.7% winrate.
Note that this statistic ties closely in with the success of Poro King Targon, as these two decks were brought together by J01 and Chenia to form a meta-breaking lineup!
Tyguy’s and Jerzyno’s Meta Lineup
While we see exciting off-meta brews demolish the competition, there were also some meta lineups performing well. Especially Tyguy and Jerzyno were able to reach the Winner’s Semifinals, before getting beaten by the above lineups.
Both players brought the same lineup of Mordekaiser Morgana, Norra Elder Dragon, and Karma Sett. For the sake of compactness, we will only show Tyguy’s lineup (because he wears the cooler shirt in his Worlds picture):
Morgana Mordekaiser
32 cards
8 cards
Karma Sett
24 cards
16 cards
Norra Elder Dragon
15 cards
25 cards
Conclusion
… And that’s it!
