The Eternal Ladder is finally available to play, and players have quickly started their climb, aiming to reach the highest ranks and secure their World Points.
The next Runeterra Open will follow the Eternal format, which means the community will be working hard to figure out the best decks in the new meta. We already have a couple of decks that have been holding up well so far, but there are still a lot of archetypes to discover and refine.
CasterGem's Elise They Who Endure
3 cards
37 cards
The They Who Endure deck makes a comeback after the recent buff in Patch 4.11, dropping the Overwhelm unit to 6 mana. CasterGems from the EMEA server managed to make a quick climb to Master rank with this version of the deck.
This Elise Freljord deck is capable of putting a lot of early board pressure with units like Elise, Ravenous Butcher, Cursed Keeper, and Blighted Caretaker.
As ally units die, They Who Endure will gain a lot of stats, eventually creating that Overwhelm threat that simply can't be ignored. An Atrocity finisher can also put those stats to use if you can't finish the game with the Overwhelm attack. It can also be used as a retaliation to your opponent's attempt to kill They Who Endure.
Yangzera's Seraphine Ezreal Janna BC
16 cards
24 cards
Yangzera managed to be the first Master player on the America server with this Seraphine Ezreal Bandle City deck.
This is an old control archetype that focuses on keeping the board in check with low-cost spells while advancing the level-up condition of both Seraphine and Ezreal.
This deck is capable of generating value with Seraphine and Back Alley Bar, eventually outvaluing your opponent in the later stages of the game and making it difficult for them to catch up.
However, the main win condition is setting up both leveled-up Ezreal and Seraphine on the board at the same time. From there, you'll be able to take advantage of Seraphine's double-cast ability to double-damage the opponent's Nexus with Ezreal. This creates a turbo-burn plan that can be almost impossible for the opponent to interrupt in time.
Haess' Nidalee BC
13 cards
27 cards
Haess brought back the Nidalee Bandle City deck that has lost a lot of its popularity since the Valley of Imitation nerf. They've managed to be one of the first to hit Master rank on the APAC server.
This deck uses Valley of Imitation to create more threats on the board, especially when Chief Nakotak and Big Game Tycoon start buffing its stats.
The plan is to set up big Overwhelm attacks with Valley of Imitation transforming into a Towering Pairofant with additional stats that threaten to destroy the opponent's Nexus.
PvH's Elise Janna Go Hard
26 cards
14 cards
PvH took this new Go Hard version that uses Janna's Updraft mechanic and draw potential for a powerful late game to their Master climb on the EMEA server.
This deck has access to low-cost spells like Mystic Shot, Vile Feast, Aftershock, and Howling Gale to help keep the board in check as you find your Go Hards and start casting them.
With the many card draw potential this deck has, you'll be able to find the shuffled Go Hards and replay them, setting up for that powerful Pack Your Bags turn to destroy the opponent's board and burn down their Nexus.
Commander Ledros accelerates that late-game pressure, putting the opponent's Nexus at risk of getting destroyed the next time you play Pack Your Bags.
BlackBoss' Gangplank Sejuani
14 cards
26 cards
BlackBoss was the second to hit Master rank on the America server with this Gangplank Sejuani Plunder deck.
The game plan is to put early pressure on the opponent and damage their Nexus at least once every turn. Cards like Warning Shot, Parrrley, Make it Rain, Tusk Speaker, and Spirits Unleashed are usually used on defensive turns to ping the opponent's Nexus.
This will advance the level-up of both Gangplank and Sejuani, which will later carry the game with their unique abilities. Gangplank threatens to deal AOE damage to the opponent's board and push more Overwhelm damage.
As for Sejuani, her freeze ability provides that safety for your units and Nexus while also creating an Overwhelm win condition.
Px350's Draven Sion Jinx
20 cards
20 cards
Aggressive decks are a quick way to win games and climb the ladder, and Px350 did just that on the APAC server with this Draven Sion Jinx deck.
This is an aggressive discard deck that aims to swarm the board and push a lot of early/mid-game damage with units like Draven, Risen Rider, Sump Dredger, and Twinblade Revenant.
A leveled Sion drops down on turn 7/8 and creates that big Overwhelm opportunity that forces the opponent to find answers. If Sion dies, you'll get Sion Returned on the board, activating Rally and going for another swing to close out the game.
The deck runs burn tools such as Mystic Shot, Get Excited!, and Blowback to help deal that little damage needed to close out the game.
N3rdo's Fizz Akshan
19 cards
21 cards
N3rdo makes a quick climb to Master rank on the EMEA server yet again, this time using the Fizz Akshan combo-oriented deck.
This deck uses early units like Akshan, Treasure Seeker, and Yordle Squire to keep up with the opponent's early game as it sets up its game plan.
Fizz and Ruin Runner are key cards to set up the combo play, taking advantage of their Elusive and Overwhelm keywords. The plan is to attach a Papercraft Dragon to them and start buffing up their damage. This creates a double attack that can be challenging for the opponent to block. Fizz's dodge ability makes it difficult for the opponent to interrupt him. As for Ruin Runner, her Spell Shield gives an additional layer of protection that forces more resources out of the opponent.
Zandalphtheaggro's Poppy Ziggs
18 cards
22 cards
Zandalphtheaggro lives up to their name, taking the aggressive Poppy Ziggs deck to their Master climb on the America ladder.
Poppy Ziggs swarms the board and starts pushing a lot of early Nexus damage. Poppy can buff up your attacking units, creating a greater threat that your opponent must deal with to keep their Nexus healthy.
In the late game, you'll rely on burn spells like Noxian Fervor and Decimate to close out the game.
GreenSlimey's Zoe Viktor Aphelios
20 cards
20 cards
GreenSlimey used both Zoe Viktor Aphelios and Nasus Thresh to climb to Master on the APAC server.
They made the final push with this Targon PnZ deck that uses champions as value engine, keeping the resource value running until you dominate the game.
This deck can go wide on the board and chip away at the opponent's Nexus. It can also set up an Elusive win condition with Subpurrsible, forcing answers out of the opponent. Get Excited! and Mystic Shot act as burn tools to close out the game. Starshaping is another win condition set up that Invokes a big Celestial unit like The Great Beyond or The Scourge.
Closing Words
We're still in the early days of Patch 4.11, and there are a lot more competitive decks for the community to explore and find the best lists out there. The Runeterra Open is approaching, which will be the last chance for players to collect World Points.
