The Fate's Voyage: Onward expansion has been quite exciting, introducing new playstyles with Janna, Volibear, and Nilah. All of these champions have found success in ranked matches, and there's still room for players to explore new decks as the meta evolves.
The current meta feels diverse, with many players climbing to Master rank using a variety of different decks. I kept a close eye on the early decks that made it to Master, here are nine different decks that have already reached the Master rank.
N3rdo's Fizz Nilah
18 cards
22 cards
N3rdo was the first to hit Master rank on the EMEA server using this Fizz Nilah deck that I enjoyed playing on the expansion's first day.
This is somewhat of an aggressive deck that looks to deal early damage with units before transitioning to the burn plan with cards like Make it Rain, Parrrley, Mystic Shot, and Divine Whirlwind.
In this deck, Fizz and Nilah play pivotal roles. Fizz's elusive damage ensures sneaky Nexus damage, while Nilah's leveled-up ability, along with the Brash keyword, packs a punch to the opponent's Nexus.
Gatalyst v1.0 empowers your Spells and Skills, enabling a faster burn plan to close out the game.
MaykaS' Janna Samira
8 cards
32 cards
MaykaS is the first on the American server to hit Master rank and they mostly relied on Janna Samira during their climb.
This deck applies early board pressure with units like Samira, Acorn, the Hextechnician, Blade Squire, and Forge Chief. Damaging the opponent's Nexus is crucial, as it sets the stage for a transition to the burn plan with cards like Mystic Shot, Blowback, and Divine Whirlwind.
Moreover, it can follow an aggressive strategy while also keeping the opponent's board in check with Howling Gale, Blowback, and Divine Whirlwind.
Finally, Janna Samira has access to a lot of card draw to keep the engine running. Janna, Eye Of The Storm, Formula, Augmented Clockling, and Exalted Cloudwinder are all important cards that offer additional draws so you don't run out of options.
SuperTimeline69's Jinx Nilah
23 cards
17 cards
SuperTimeline69 from the APAC server quickly reached Master rank using the rising Jinx Nilah deck. This aggressive Jinx deck utilizes Nilah for early pressure and creating Slipstreams in the deck.
The goal here is to go wide on the board and start dealing Nexus damage. While many versions incorporate the discard package to facilitate Jinx's level-up, SuperTimeline69 focuses more on board development, relying on Dedicant of the Challenge for the discard mechanic to level up Jinx.
Drawing more cards allows you to level up Nilah and increase burn potential with her ability. In the late game, the deck relies on burn spells like Super Mega Death Rocket!, Mystic Shot, and Divine Whirlwind.
Notably, SuperTimeline69 excludes Blowback from the deck, relying heavily on unit damage to apply early/mid-game pressure.
Fizzical's Elusive Teemo
19 cards
21 cards
The Elusive Teemo deck has been crushing the ladder since Patch 4.9 dropped and Fizzical has piloted this list up to Master rank.
The strategy is to swarm the board with Elusive units and begin damaging the Nexus. The game plan is straightforward, with Wuju Style and Deny serving as protection tools for Elusive units.
After dealing early/mid-game damage, the burn plan kicks in. Mystic Shot, Blowback, and Shock Blast become crucial in the late game to take down the opponent's Nexus.
PiNGnoPRO's Volibear Janna
28 cards
12 cards
Volibear Janna has been struggling a bit on the ranked ladder, but PiNGnoPRO has managed to hit Master rank in a short period of time with this version of the deck.
The strategy revolves around using Iascylla, Figurehead of the Deep as a value engine with Elemental spells, maintaining board control with cards like Shatter, Divine Draft, Howling Gale, and Winter's Breath.
Janna contributes value with card draw and cost reduction for drawn cards. Once Volibear levels up, he becomes a win condition with his Overwhelm damage.
Sudrakon's Sett Poro
26 cards
14 cards
The Poro archetype has been holding up well in the new meta and Sudrakon took this Sett The Poro King list to the Master rank.
The main objective is to flood the board with Poro units and level up The Poro King. Buffing your Poros with Poro Snax and Special Snax creates a stronger board that'll be difficult for the opponent to deal with.
Sett shines in the mid-game, dealing with troublesome units and unleashing Show Stoppers in the late game to eliminate opponent win conditions.
This Ionia version includes protection cards like Tag Out! and Deny to keep your champions alive. Ionia also offers Place Your Bets and Sai'nen Thousand-Tailed for additional card draw.
TSI AragOrnn's Nilah Volibear
19 cards
21 cards
AragOrnn climbed to Master using this Nilah Volibear Elemental deck. This deck mostly runs spells and uses Deluge to increase the damage of your Elemental Spells and Skills.
Nilah applies early-game pressure and creates Slipstreams in the deck which acts as important Elemental spells for the card draw.
As you play your Elemental Spells and Skills, you'll reduce the cost of Clash of Giants, allowing you to play it for a lower mana cost and summon two high-stat units on the board. Together with a leveled Volibear, this enables powerful Overwhelm attack to end the game.
Wizened Helmsman adds value by creating a second Deluge or Clash of Giants and reducing their cost to 0 mana, maintaining that crucial late-game threat.
GamerLv244's Garen Jarvan IV SH
5 cards
35 cards
GamerLv244's final push to Master rank on the APAC ladder was with Garen Jarvan IV Shurima. They also used different Volibear decks during their climb.
This Elites deck aims to dominate the board with buffed-up Elite units, forcing unfavorable trades for the opponent. Garen gives you that +1|+1 buff upon being summoned, creating an immediate threat. As for Jarvan IV, he joins the battlefield at burst speed, limiting the opponent's counter options. A leveled Jarvan IV generates Cataclysm, useful for eliminating pesky units.
Defenders of the Sun Disc, a new Shurima card, provides value by drawing a copy of itself from the deck if its Daybreak effect is activated. Being in the Shurima region means you have access to Rite of Negation, a crucial card to protect key units or shut down expensive plays like Buried in Ice or The Ruination.
Champions' Strength is a vital win condition for this deck. The wider the board, the more pressure you'll put on the opponent with the +4|+4 stat buff and Rally.
LTS Anfitriao's Nidalee Renekton
31 cards
9 cards
The Beguiling Cobra is finding success on the ranked ladder as Anfitriao managed to hit Master rank on the America server.
This is a combo-oriented deck that uses Valley of Imitation and Beguiling Cobra synergy to flood the board with multiple Cobras and start slamming down the opponent's Nexus.
Playing an Ovewhelm or Elusive unit while the Cobras swarm the board will copy the keyword and sets up an attack difficult for the opponent to deal with.
Closing Words
The new meta features diverse and innovative decks, with each deck offering unique strategies and win conditions. As players continue to explore the meta, it will undoubtedly evolve in the coming weeks.
