Hello everyone, Yangzera here to talk about the new LoR exclusive champion: The Poro King! He brings a new breath of fresh air to an old loved archetype. A dedicated champion and a playstyle that isn't locked into exactly Freljord gives the player access to all Poros and any secondary region they might desire. The fact that you can play the combination of Daring Poro, Poro Snax and Lonely Poro without locking your regions to Freljord plus Piltover and Zaun is huge and might be the reason Poros become a real deck in the Legends of Runeterra meta.
The Perfect Shell
34 cards
I’ve talked to a bunch of my fellow Brazilian friends and most agree that this is a very good shell to start with on your The Poro King deck. The only questions are if we really need all the one-ofs to consistently level up The Poro King and if the Fabled Poro can be trimmed down to a one-of too. These are not questions answered with theory, but with practice, experience and feel. I encourage you to try this shell out with any complementing cards and see if your Poro King levels easily. After, adjust the ratios accordingly until you are leveling him extremely consistent while also having minimal amount of bad cards.
I’ll share some of my takes on complementary cards and reasoning as to why I chose them. Feel free to explore the deck builder for extra ideas and let me know what you come up with! I'm always available on social media and on the Mastering Runeterra discord server.
Bilgewater Poros

7 cards
It comes as no surprise that Bilgewater is the first region people will pair with The Poro King, solely because of Siren Song. I chose Pool Shark as the second card to add to the list from Bilgewater because it adds much needed cheap card draw to the deck, as you can run out of gas pretty easily and Aurora Porealis is a terribly bad card.
I chose to cut one Fabled Poro for one Barbed Chain in the final version because it’s a pretty decent draw effect that’s also cheap. You could look into adding Dragon Prince Grinzo to your deck but that could really incline your build into going for Eye of Nagakabouros. Try these different options out and let me know which one you thought was strongest!
Freljord Poros

Freljord could be a decent secondary region for The Poro King, but I don’t really believe in what it brings to the table. Ingvar the Younger can add a little bit of gas by manifesting an extra Poro that can help level up the Poro King or provides a board-wide buff like a Vanguard Bannerman would, but that’s pretty much it. Frostbite effects can turn your deck into a decent midrange build that can fight for the board extremely well, but lacks growth speed and gas to do that.
Demacia Poros
34 cards
6 cards
Demacia Poros is there to add lots of speed to the game and a secondary win condition outside only Poro Snax. Being able to break free from Poro Snax can give the deck game into a lot of things, and Champions' Strength really benefits from having a lot of 1 drops in the deck. Mageseeker Junior comes in as nice disruption that doesn’t really affect our deck at all, unlike Stony Suppressor. With Snax always costing three while we make our opponent’s life harder, there is potential to this version of Poros.
Ionian Poros

6 cards
My last poro deck for today will be Ionian. When prompted with “you need Poro Snax to win” as an immediate reply to the "What's strong about poros?" question, Rejuvenating Breeze’s tutoring aspect came to mind. Vastayan Disciple helps the theme of adding extra gas to our hand with an annoying draw engine the opponent has to think about dealing.
Don’t get baited into adding more spells to the deck other then Poro Snax and Poro Stories. Even though you’re in Ionia, I don’t think that there is any dire need for negation spells that could dilute the draw pool of Rejuvenating Breeze.
Conclusion
And those were my Poro decks for today! These deckbuilding exercises are always fun to do and can bring perspectives for concepts we might never realize otherwise. Try toying with your decks and experimentation – I added the deck shell section to encourage just that! If you want to talk more about these decks, check me out live on stream! I'll be streaming my early ladder climb in the new expansion today! I hope you enjoyed today’s decks and we’ll definitely see eachother very, very soon.
